Cullen congratulates Irish cricket team on beating Bangladesh in ICC World Twenty20

Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, Martin Cullen TD, has congratulated the Irish cricket team on beating Bangladesh in their opening match at the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Twenty20.

Minister Cullen said: "Today's fabulous victory which ensures Ireland's qualification for the Super Eights, is yet another tremendous performance by an Irish cricket team and sets them up well for Wednesday's clash with India. There were some fabulous performances today with bat and ball. In surpassing Bangladesh's total of 137 runs with 6 wickets and 10 deliveries to spare, Ireland has added to its growing reputation in the cricketing world and it would be a very brave team who would underestimate them in this shortened format."

Minister Cullen added: "Great credit must go to all those involved with the squad and everybody involved in the game in Ireland."
