Classy McBrine Continues to Impress as Ireland Beat Bangladesh in Final World Cup Warm Up Clash

North West Spin King Andrew McBrien continues his excellent form with yet another eye-catching bowling performance today against Bangladesh.

McBrine has done his chances of a start on Sunday no harm in the warm up matches, showing good control and temperament in the conditions.

Barry Chambers: Andrew a good performance to beat Bangladesh?

Andrew McBrine: Yeah a great performance. It started off well with the ball, so it did. Maxi and John Boy, a great opening spell, got a few early wickets, which always helps. Then the rest of the lads all backed it up.

Barry Chambers: And you got off to a great start also, a wicket with your first ball?

Andrew McBrine: Yeah a wicked with my first ball, it doesn't happen too often, so it doesn't.

Barry Chambers: And it was an All Donemana combination, caught by Porty?

Andrew McBrine: Caught by Porty is right. Yeah it was one of those so it was, and just happy, off to a good start with the ball. Gave me a wee bit of confidence for the rest of my spell.

Barry Chambers: And it was a great difference from Tuesday, it was day and night. The ground fielding was fantastic, a couple of good catches, and all the bowlers on the money?

Andrew McBrine: Yeah that's what I mean like. Maxi and John Boy set the platform up front, the Fielders were outstanding for the full day. Nothing really got past us. You felt it was a different team at the end of the day, I felt.

Barry Chambers: And young Andy Balbirnie with the bat and Ed Joyce, a bit of youth and experience doing very well.

Andrew McBrine: Balbo just came in, and right from the start, he came in and expressed himself. He was very positive, always looking to score off every ball. He changed the momentum of our innings. That gave Joycie a bit more freedom near the end of his innings. And he showed a calm head all the way through after we lost a few wickets, it was nice to get over the line.

Barry Chambers: Do you pinch yourself sometimes that you're at a World Cup, I mean you've come really far in such a short time?

Andrew McBrine: Yes it's funny, like you sit there and you see like, on the Fox Sports Channel, you're looking at World Cup matches that were on, and you're actually just thinking to yourself, when you're in your room, you're actually at a World Cup here. It's just exciting, looking forward now to the match on Monday.

Barry Chambers: And you had a bit of good news during the week, you were awarded a full time A Contract, Andrew McBrine: Yes. Barry Chambers: That must give you a bit of peace of mind?

Andrew McBrine: Yes it's great now. So that's a full year now of solid cricket. I'm really looking forward to it.
