No Irish Complacency As Simmons Puts Ireland Through Tough Preparation for UAE Encounter

Irish Coach Phil Simmons says preparation has gone well for his side ahead of their crucial World Cup encounter with the UAE.

Having beaten the West Indies, and seen them suddenly take off, Ireland need to be as good as not better if they are to continue the momentum they created in their opening match.

Simmons says all 15 in the squad are in line for selection. So it will be an anxious wait for the squad to see who is in and who is not for tomorrow's Game in the Gabba.

Barry Chambers: Phil it's been a long nine days, but the UAE Game is finally on us. How has the preparation gone this past two days?

Phil Simmons: The preparation has gone well. We had two days indoors and it was very good. And then the last two days outdoors was good too. So it's about time we get back on the pitch. And I think everybody is just looking forward to tomorrow's game.

Barry Chambers: And the Gabba, we'll be there under lights, 42,000. What sort of atmosphere can we expect there?

Phil Simmons: Well I don't know what the atmosphere is like, I haven't played in it since it's been this closed in. So I don't know what the atmosphere is like. But with Irish people supporting their team, it's always going to be a great atmosphere. So we just look forward to that.

Barry Chambers: And is everybody fit and well, they all trained today?

Phil Simmons: Yeah everybody is good. Everybody is looking forward to selection tomorrow and seeing if they're in the team. So all fifteen are up for selection.

Barry Chambers: Yes, and there's been no complacency, we've trained exactly the same way as we did before the West Indies game, and we're taking our opponents very seriously?

Phil Simmons: Yeah we've been trying to do everything, to replicate everything we did before that game, and before every game. We're doing that now. So I think we're getting it right, and I hope that today was as good as before.
