Philip Smith has been unveiled as the new General Manger of Leinster Cricket.

The Terenure Chairman was recently elected to the Executive Committee of Cricket Leinster and has a wide ranging knowledge of local and Irish cricket.

Cricket Leinster President Derek Dockrell told the Leinster website: “I am delighted to announce Philip’s appointment as General Manager of Cricket Leinster.

"I have no doubt that Philip will contribute greatly to the development of the sport across the province. This strategic appointment demonstrates a strong commitment by Cricket Ireland to strengthening the provincial unions and I would like to thank them for their support."

Smith will take up the reins on April 10th, and he said of his new position.“It is an honour and a privilege to have been appointed.
"I will work tirelessly to deliver for our clubs and their members - this is an exciting time for cricket in Ireland and Leinster and I look forward to helping channel our collective efforts towards making cricket a mainstream sport.”

He joins Peter McCartney from the NWCU and Angela Platt of the NCU in these new high profile roles. The posts have been funded by Cricket Ireland, Sport NI and ICC.
