Ireland Under 19s lost again on Saturday, beaten by four wickets against Zimbabwe, who now hold an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series.

Batting first in a match reduced to 40 overs after early rain, Ireland were once again in early trouble with both openers departing cheaply.

Josh Cox (29) and skipper Tim Tector (37) shared a third wicket stand of 57 in 16 overs, but from 85 for 2 the innings imploded.

Tector's dismissal sparked an all too familiar collapse, with the last eight wickets adding just 33, as they were bowled out for 118 with seven balls unused.

The Zimbabwean reply got off to a terrible start with both openers back in the hutch inside the first over to give the Irish hope.

A third wicket stand of 52 between Zimbabwean skipper Bawa (29) and David Bennett (17) looked to have extinguished the Irish fire.

However four wickets fell in quick succession, and at 60 for 6, it seemed as if Ireland were in the box seat, with wickets for Nathan McGuire (2-17), Jamie Forbes (2-24), and Diarmuid Burke (1-13).

However, Zimbabwe's middle order proved once again to be made of sterner stuff than their counterparts, with Brian Bennet's unbeaten 42 from just 48 balls (4 fours, 2 sixes) proving decisive as he and Mataranyika (12*) doubled the score, adding an unbroken 60 in 80 balls to seal the four-wicket win.

The teams meet again on Sunday in the fourth and final game of the series, before heading to Guyana.
