Ireland Under 19s lost by 128 runs against Sri Lanka in their first official warm-up match in Guyana.

Overnight rain reduced the contest to a 43 overs game and the powerful Sri Lanka side, which recently reached the Asia Cup final, scored 233 for 7.

Shevon Daniel top scored with 75 from 72 balls (8 fours, 1 six), before retiring.

Nathan McGuire was the pick of the attack taking 2 for 40, while the other successful wicket takers were Daniel Forkin (1-21) and Reuben Wilson (1-41).

The three other wickets to fall were run outs, with some truly kamikaze, yes, no, wait, sorry efforts.

On a difficult track, Ireland's chase never got going, as they were bowled out for 105.

Josh Cox top scored with an undefeated 44 in an otherwise forgettable effort, extras at 22 being the next highest contribution, while Scott Macbeth and Phillipe Le Roux's 11 apiece being the only other double figures scores.

Ireland face Scotland on Wednesday, before they begin the tournament proper on Friday against Uganda.
