Played in tri-series up until now, the new policy for CWC League 2 seems to be getting fixtures in whenever they can with all the disruption to the calendar over the last two years. Hence, with the UAE in Oman for the upcoming T20 World Cup qualifier, they are playing three ODIs against Oman as part of CWC League 2.

UAE captain Ahmed Raza won the toss in today's first match, putting the home team into bat first. Run scoring was slow at first with just 20 on the board when Khawar Ali was bowled by Kashif Daud at the end of the sixth over. The run rate soon began to increase though as the third wicket pairing of Jatinder Singh and Ayaan Khan scored quickly.

The two put on 109 before Singh was out for 106 from 95 balls, his second ODI century and just one short of his best. Khan went on to score 77, whilst Naseem Khushi clubbed 42 from 21 balls to help take his team to a challenging total of 307-9.

UAE's reply - and Muhammad Wasim's ODI career - didn't get off to the best start as the opener was dismissed for a first ball duck at the end of the first over. But the second wicket partnership between Chirag Suri and Vriitya Aravind put on 180 before the latter was out for 89.

Suri was out a few overs later for 115 - his first ODI century - and Basil Hameed give some late impetus to the chase with a 33 ball knock of 61. There was a little wobble at the start of the 49th over as Hameed and Rohan Mustafa fell in consecutive deliveries after putting on 59 for the fifth wicket, but there was no panic as Kashif Daud scored the three remaining runs needed to secure a four wicket win with an over to spare.

The teams will meet again tomorrow.
