The first part of the T20 World Cup Qualifier is underway in Oman with the hosts taking on Nepal on the opening morning in a Group B contest.

The hosts, playing at the ground that hosted one of the two "first round" groups at last year's T20 World Cup, won the toss and chose to field first. It looked to be a good decision as Nepal struggled to score quickly and lost early wickets. Their only batting highlight came from Aarif Sheikh who scored 38 from 37 balls.

Khawar Ali took three wickets towards the end of the Nepal innings, whilst Sandeep Lamichhane hit a quick 16 from 7 balls to help Sheikh put on 30 for the eighth wicket with the latter run out from the final ball of the innings.

Kamal Airee then starred with the ball for Nepal, taking 3-15. Naseem Khushi was the only Omani batter to reach double figures with 24 as Nepal bowled them out for 78, winning by 39 runs.

Nepal will take on the Philippines tomorrow whilst Oman will play Canada.
