THE HILLS

  • Captain- Tomas Rooney-Murphy
  • Overseas- Dylan Blignaut
  • Players in- Ashley Bain
  • Young Players to watch- Mathew Weldon, Sam Smyth, Athar Farooqi

With new coach Jeremy Bray at the helm, you get the feeling this could be the year the Milverton side get back into the trophy hunt.

Tomas Rooney-Murphy is captain once again, while Dylan Blignaut returns as their overseas professional.

There is a new face in the form of Ashley Bain, who is a very exciting medium fast bowler. He is a South African living in Ireland and was looking for a club.

"I have a feeling he is going to have a big impact with the ball this year," Head Coach Bray told CricketEurope. "He is quicker than you think and bowls excellent areas. Perfectly suited for Irish conditions. He is a useful lower order bat as well. Hopefully the fitter he gets the more benefits we will see from his performances.

"The Hills have generally been a very good bowling attack which has often hidden their batting frailties.

"While a lot will be expected of Murray Commins to score the majority of the runs, players like Cormac McLoughlin-Gavin, Mark Donegan and Dylan Blignaut have the talent and ability to score consistently and heavily which will make the Hills a very formidable and more rounded outfit. T

"here has been some notable improvements in the mindsets of players over the winter regarding their training habits and application which if transferred onto the pitch will bring just rewards for the players and club alike."
