BRIGADE

  • Captain: Andy Britton
  • Players in: Graeme McCarter (Carrickfergus)
  • Players out; Ross Allen (Waringstown)
  • Player to watch: Adam McDaid

It was quite a season for Brigade in 2021 as they captured four trophies, dominating the cup competitions, although they did struggle in the Premier League.

There had been strong rumours that the Beechgrove side were on the brink of major signings but as they season starts there has been just one arrival and departure.

Former Irish international Graeme McCarter arrives from Carrickfergus, but has been struggling with a knee injury and may be limited to playing as a batsman for some of the campaign. He showed though in the European Cricket series that his powerful ball striking could be a potent asset this year.

There's no doubt though that the departure of left-arm spinner Ross Allen is a big blow, with the Warriors player being a consistent and effective wicket taker in his time there.

There will be few clubs better prepared than Brigade who played almost a season's worth of matches in their Spanish adventure.

Skipper Andy Britton once again has the armband and while it may be beyond them to win another quadruple, you get the feeling the trophy cabinet may have at least one or two piece of silverware again in 2022.
