Gaby Lewis hit a brilliant century as The Scorchers inflicted a punishing 173-run defeat on the Dragons at Oak Hill.

The Irish captain struck 19 boundaries in her 122 from just 108 balls, making the Dragons pay dearly for a drop on just 22.

Lewis dominated an opening stand of 122 with Rachel Delaney (20) which laid the platform for a huge total of 297 for 6.

She was eventually dismissed by Amy Caufield, who took 3 for 46.

Shauna Kavanagh struck seven boundaries in a breezy 67, while there was also a late cameo from Lara Maritz (21).

Sarah Forbes (4) fell cheaply in the chase, but skipper Leah Paul (33) and fellow international Amy Hunter - who hit the only six of the game in her 26 - took the total to 74 for 1.

However, the wheels then came off as the Dragons innings collapsed, losing nine wickets for 50 runs to be dismissed for 124.

Rachel Delaney (4-23) was the pick of the Scorchers attack.
