After the disappointment of the 104 run defeat in the first game of this tri-series, Scotland bounced back today against the USA in what was almost a complete reversal of that opening contest.

Scotland won the toss this time and chose to have first use of the pitch. An opening partnership of 54 between Matthew Cross and Kyle Coetzer ended when captain Coetzer was out for 17, with Calum MacLeod falling for just one run soon afterwards.

MacLeod’s dismissal brought Berrington out to the middle and he and Cross put on 61 before Cross was out for 74. George Munsey scored 51, putting on 116 for the fourth wicket with Berrington, whilst Berrington went on to score an unbeaten 107 as Scotland scored 300-7 from their 50 overs.

In the USA reply, three batters were able to pass 30 - Monank Patel, Aaron Jones, and Nisarg Patel - but none of them were able to go on to get a big score with Jones’ 38 the top score. Chris Sole with 3-40 was the pick of the bowlers as the home team were bowled out for 189, losing by 111 runs.

Today is a rest day in Texas before this CWC League 2 tri-series resumes tomorrow with Scotland playing the United Arab Emirates.
