Rain wasn't far away as the Alan Murray T20 competition got under way on Thursday night.

Or rather, it didn't in the case of the game between North Kildare v The Hills.

Civil Service looked on course to shock Balbriggan having posted 148 and had the Premiership side on 26 for 3 in three overs when the game was abandoned.

There was also some play in Merrion's match with North County, with Jack Carty making 42 not out as the Anglesea Road side reached 88 for 3 in the 11th over before being abandoned.

YMCA's Harry Tector and James Forbes both made half centuries as they shared a thrid wicket stand of 108 in 12 overs to take their side to 159 for 5 against Leinster.

Tector hit 4 fours and 3 sixes in his 64 from 42balls, while Forbes 63 from 52 deliveries included 7 fours and one maximum.

Leinster's chase lasted just eight balls before the elements intervened.

Sidharth Nair clubbed 5 fours and 3 sixes in a 19-ball top score of 47 as Terenure made 147 for 9 against Phoenix - three wickets for Devender Raniola, and two apiece for Oliver Hald and William Bennett.

Tyrone Kane ensured the points for Phoenix as he cleared the ropes four times in his 33 from 11 balls - Phoenix winning by 11 runs on DLS despite two late wickets just before the rain - 59 for 3 after 6 overs.

Llew Johnson of Rush was the evening's highest scorer, with the Kiwi hitting 10 fours and 8 sixes in his 103 from 44 balls.

He added 68 in six overs with Jarred Barnes (33), while Allan Eastwood (22) struck some late, lusty blows to take Rush past 200.

Pembroke's chase was cut short in the sixth over, falling 8 runs short on DLS.

Malahide proved too strong for a spirited Adamstown side making their competition debut.

Ryan Hackney top scored with an unbeaten 72 (5 fours, 1 six) as he shared stands of 72 with Fintan McAllister (40) and 64 with Aaron Doyle (32*) to help Malahide to 164 for 4.

Michael Frost took four wickets in the Adamstown reply, which had reached 30 for 5 when play was halted - the village side 47 runs DLS winners.

Clontarf's excellent season continued as they beat Railway Union.

Kenny Carroll (36) and Ashil Prakash (26) took the Park Avenue side to 72 for 1 before the wheels came off - losing nine wickets for just 24 runs with Ruan Cronje taking five wickets for 26, and David Vincent claiming 2 for 22.

Clontarf's pursuit had them coasting at 74 for 2 at the halfway stage, before the stumps were pulled - the Castle Avenue side 26 runs DLS winners.
