The first of two ODI tri-series in Texas that form part of CWC League 2 concluded yesterday with the UAE completing a rather straightforward win over the hosts at Moosa Stadium.

UAE captain Ahmed Raza won the toss and chose to field first, and it proved to be a great decision when openers Steven Taylor and Sushant Modani both fell for ducks within the first seven balls, the latter from the first ball he faced. Monak Patel and Aaron Jones rebuilt with an 82 run partnership that ended when Patel was out for 43, the first of four wickets for Zawar Farid.

Jones eventually reached 87 but there wasn't any other contribution of note as the home team were bowled out for 198, Zaward Farid finishing with 4-30.

The UAE lost Muhammad Waseem for just six early in their reply, but a 125 run second wicket partnership between Chirag Suri and Vriitya Aravind followed, taking the UAE close to victory. Suri was the second man out, having scored 64, whilst Aravind finished the innings unbeaten on 102 to complete an eight wicket win with almost ten full overs to spare.

The USA will now host Oman and Nepal for another CWC League 2 tri-series at the same venue. The UAE have two more tri-series to play - both against Nepal and Papua New Guinea - though no firm dates are known at this time. Scotland will host Nepal and Namibia next month, and their opponents in this tri-series in August.
