Gaby Lewis led from the front as the Scorchers won both their T20 Super Series matches at Anglesea Road.

The highlight of the day was another century by the skipper – her fourth of the season in all competitions – as the in-form YMCA batter launched an assault on the Dragons attack.

Chasing 157, Lewis clubbed 20 fours and a six in a brilliant unbeaten 104 from just 49 balls. She dominated stands of 94 with Bev Devchand (23) and 67 with Rachel Delaney (26*) as they won by nine wickets in the 16th over.

Earlier the Dragons innings of 157 for 7 was set up by an opening stand of 132 between Amy Hunter and Leah Paul.

Hunter hit 9 fours and 2 sixes in her 71 from 48 balls, while Paul’s unbeaten 65 from 55 balls included 7 fours.

The run out of Hunter saw the Dragons innings falter, with just 25 runs coming from the last five overs – Ellie McGee of Rush taking 4 for 14.

In the morning game, Lewis was again in the runs as Scorchers chased 154 to win in the last over by four wickets.

She hit 7 boundaries in her 46, sharing an opening stand of 62 with Bev Devchand (14).

The Typhoons kept chipping away, and it took an unbeaten 33 from Sophie MacMahon to secure the win.

The Typhoons total of 154 for 6 was primarily due to the efforts of Ireland skipper Laura Delany, who hit ten fours in her unbeaten 68, while Mary Waldron hit a rapid 14-ball 27 (5 fours, 1 six).

There are two more matches in the T20 format this week, with the Typhoons taking on the Dragons on Wednesday at Leinster, while Bready hosts the Dragons and Scorchers on Friday.
