Dragons made it back-to-back victories in the Super 20 Trophy yesterday with a four-wicket success over Scorchers at Bready.

As on Sunday in their win against the Typhoons, the opening partnership between Amy Hunter and Leah Paul was the foundation of their victory.

After restricting the Scorchers to 105 for five, with Muckamore’s Amy Caulfield taking the wicket of international Lara Maritz in her first over — she conceded just four runs in two overs — the Dragons openers hit 55 off just seven overs.

Hunter was run out for 34 and although they again lost three wickets for 10 runs as they closed in on victory, the Dragons had 17 balls to spare when, fittingly, Alana Dalzell hit the winning runs on her home ground.

The Scorchers were without captain Gaby Lewis, who was completing her placement for university before the international action resumes next weekend with the Tri-Series at Bready against Australia and Pakistan.

The Super 20 series concludes tomorrow with the Typhoons hosting a double-header at Oak Hill, with the Dragons playing in the afternoon match.

Last night, Derriaghy won the first NCU trophy of the season when they beat Saintfield on their Queensway ground by four wickets.
