Orla Prendergast’s unbeaten century guided Ireland Women’s XI to a comfortable 74-run win against their MCC counterparts at Anglesea Road.

The historic game deserved a special innings and Prendergast delivered with 101 from just 58 deliveries, which included 14 fours and a six.

That propelled Ed Joyce’s side to 188 for 6, with Leah Paul making 26, and Lara Maritz 24.

Hazel Lovegrove’s 3 for 29 the pick of the visitors' attack.

Gaby Lewis and Cecelia Joyce were guesting for MCC, but their joint contribution was a paltry two runs – both dismissed by Kate McEvoy (2-11).

Skipper Elysa Hubbard top-scored with 24 in their total of 114 for 7, with Emma Beamish, another former Irish international making 10.

MCC are back in action tomorrow, when they play a Leinster President’s XI at Sydney Parade.
