Italy and Isle of Man seem destined for a clash in Tuesday’s European sub-regional Group A final after both recorded their third win in as many games today in Finland, both doing so in convincing fashion.

Italy took on Sweden in the first match between the two sides since Italy handed the Swedes a 139 run drubbing at Horsham in Sussex nine years ago. Whilst the margin wasn’t quite as wide this time, it was still a convincing win for the Italians, who scored 169-7 thanks to Marcus Campopiano’s 62 from 49 balls before bowling their opponents out for 78 to win by 91 runs with only two batters reaching double figures.

The Isle of Man’s win came this afternoon in a first ever match against Romania. Choosing to bowl first, they bowled Romania out for 120 before racing to their target in just 12.2 overs to win by eight wickets. Nathan Knights clubbed 69 from just 31 balls.

Serbia recorded their first win in an ICC competition when they bowled Turkey out for 67 and chased in 14.5 overs to win by seven wickets.

The previous two encounters between Croatia and Greece both ended in convincing wins for the latter - a 126 run win in a 35 over contest back in 2001 and a 10 wicket win in a T20 a decade ago. Things have evidently shifted in favour of Croatia this time, as they scored 104-6 before bowling their opponents out. In a superb display of death bowling, Croatia reduced Greece from 82-5, needing 23 in 33 balls, to 101 all out, the last wicket falling from the last ball of the match.

Italy play their last round-robin match tomorrow when they take on Croatia in the first match between the sides since 2011. Hosts Finland take on Greece in the other Group 1 match, looking for their first win in five matches against their opponents.

The Isle of Man have a day off in Group 2, where Romania play Serbia - Romania having won the previous seven matches between the two sides - and Cyprus play Turkey in the first meeting of the two teams on the cricket field.
