It’s been a huge week for the Bready club with them hosting the women’s international tri-series between Ireland, Pakistan, and Australia. The weather ruined the opening game, but a capacity crowd of 800 witnessed the world champions Australia beat Ireland by nine wickets on Sunday.

Ireland had a great opportunity to beat Pakistan on Tuesday as they were set a target of 97 for victory in 14 overs. They looked well placed at the half-way stage having reached 54 for 0, but the wily Pakistan spinners choked the chase, and the Girls in Green finished 13 runs adrift.

The series continues today with Ireland taking on Australia, while there are matches on Saturday and Sunday with the final matches.

Meanwhile in the North West Women’s League, Bready stayed top after a fine bowling display saw them dismiss Strabane for just 37.

All the Bready attack were among the wickets, with Cody Wallace, Steph Wilkinson, Vee Buchanan, and Charley Scott all claiming wickets. The Magheramason side lost just two wickets knocking off the modest target and they remain on course to defend their title.

Coleraine remained in the hunt in second place after they beat Eglinton by 9 wickets.
