An amazing collapse saw the Dragons lose seven wickets for just 11 runs to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in their Super Series clash at Holywood against the Typhoons.

Chasing 234 for victory, the Dragons looked well on course as half centuries from Sarah Forbes (65) and Orla Prendergast (57), plus 30s from Leah Paul and Arlene Kelly took them to 205 for 3.

However the batting card thereafter took a binary look as six players scored 0 or 1 to leave them 216 all out – four wickets for Robyn Searle, plus two each for Louise Little and Laura Delany.

The Irish skipper hit 11 fours in her unbeaten 83 from 72 balls, with runs too for Searle (45).

A feature of the innings was the Dragons fielding, which saw no fewer than four run outs.

The next action is at Pembroke on Wednesday.
