Munster Heat clinched the second edition of the Future Series in dramatic fashion as they edged out the Emerging Warriors by six runs at The Maws.

Batting first it looked bleak for the hosts as they were reduced to 26 for 4 and 53 for 6, but a 7th wicket stand of 74 between Eshan O’Sullivan (44*) and Cian Egerton (25) got them to 134 for 7 and something for the bowlers to defend.

The visitors too struggled despite Scott Macbeth’s 30 and at 92 for 7 it seemed as if their cause was lost.

However, Harry Zimmermann’s 33 meant the game was in the balance going into the final stages.

Three wickets for Cian Egerton and the run out of Zimmermann in the final over proved decisive as a delighted Munster prevailed – just, to spark great scenes in what has been a memorable season for the province,
