BURNDENNETT LOOK TO END SEASON ON HIGH

Things haven’t gone to plan for Burndennett in this season’s campaign, but they have a chance to rectify that when they take on Bready in the final of the Eric Cooke Cup on Sunday at St Johnston (1pm).

“It's been a disappointing season for ourselves this year as we have blown hot and cold throughout the season and more so cold recently when it mattered,” said Burndennett captain Marty Mehaffey.

“That being said it’s always nice to have still something to play for at the tail end of the season and with the final on Sunday all the boys are buzzing and won't take much motivation to get them up for the game as the chance of silverware is still up for grabs.

“We are under no illusion of the size of the task we have ahead of us. I've said it on numerous occasions this year as we have met Bready now twice this season and have been well and truly beaten in both games, so we know exactly what we are up against.

“All I want from the boys in the final is to relax, play to their abilities, and have the confidence to do so. We are major underdogs once again so there should be no pressure and hopefully that will make the boys enjoy the occasion, play with freedom and see what happens from there. Who knows what could happen as form will go out the window hopefully and if we put the effort and fight in with bat and ball then you never know.”
