Arlene Kelly and Rachel Delaney took three wickets each as Ireland dismissed the Netherlands for 84 in Amstelveen on their way to a five-wicket victory in the first of a three-match one-day international series.

After Georgina Dempsey had made the initial breakthrough, Kelly grabbed two early wickets and Delaney her first to leave the home side floundering on 12-4 on their ODI debut, some 11 years after they last played Ireland in a 50-overs game.

The Dutch rallied but Delaney ended a promising seventh-wicket partnership of 32 and took the last to fall to finish with 3-20 while Kelly was indebted to a smart stumping by Mary Waldron for her excellent figures of 3-9.

Gaby Lewis led the reply with 25 from 32 balls and although Ireland suffered two golden ducks, Orla Prendergast’s 24 not not saw the Girls in Green home in only 19.3 overs.

Meanwhile, Paul Stirling has re-joined Southern Brave for the remainder of The Hundred in England. The 31-year-old, who recently became only the fourth batsman to reach 3,000 runs in T20 internationals, was man-of-the-match in last year’s final.
