Donemana collected the Intermediate Cup with an innings and 70-run win over The Nedd. A dominant opening day with six wickets for Christopher Neely, plus centuries for Ritchie McBrine and Graham Boyd had left Donemana with one hand on the trophy. The Nedd had made a bright start, with Mark McCann (45) and Sean Hargan (25) sharing an opening stand of 69. Both fell to the spin of Neely, who claimed 6 for 14 as the Ballykelly side collapsed to 144 all out, with Marty McElwee hitting 20 down the order.

In the reply, DJ Dougherty gave Donemana a strong start as he hit 10 fours and 2 sixes in a quick 64, adding 71 for the 3rd wicket with Graham Boyd. The game was then taken away from The Nedd with a fourth wicket stand of 184 between Ritchie McBrine and Boyd. McBrine 13 sixes and 7 fours in his 120 - 50 of which came off two overs, while Boyd's 108 included 13 fours and a six. Adam Buchanan's unbeaten 26 added further pain as Donemana closed on 375 for 5

With a first innings lead of 231, it was always an impossible task for the Ballykelly side who were bowled out for 161 second time around, despite a feisty half century from Johnny Young (51) and a battling 33 from Kyle Morrow. Chris Neely took four wickets, taking his tally to ten.. That effort was enough to gain Neely the Man-of-the-Match accolade, pipping first innings centurions Ritchie McBrine and Graham Boyd.

“It was a brilliant win for us, the final itself was played in a great spirit and The Nedd boys are a credit to their club,” said Donemana captain Jamie Huey.

“The Nedd looked set for a big total but Chris just completely turned the game on its head with that spell in the first innings. With the bat then DJ set a good platform with his knock at the top then Ritchie and Graham just completely took the game away from them - it was a joy to watch.

“As a captain I couldn’t have asked for any more. The team was brilliant the whole way through.”
