An Ireland Wolves/Academy side will travel to the West Indies next month to take on the hosts' Under 23 side.

It will be welcome fixtures for the 'next cabs off the ranks' as although the Ireland Academy have played a few games this summer, disappointingly the Wolves haven't taken the field since their pre-season series against Namibia in April.

The series is set to feature matches in all three formats, and the red-ball element of the tour is a welcome development for Ireland Head Coach Heinrich Malan to give him an indication of the depth of talent at his disposal as Ireland return to Test cricket next year.

West Indies have former Ireland Head Coach Phil Simmons at the helm, and the association will have helped broker the matches.
