Ireland have named their T20 World Cup squad, with no late surprises in Heinrich Malan's 15.

There's no place for Donemana all-rounder, with Simi Singh preferred. Malan felt that while McBrine was the more economical option, YMCA's Singh posed the greater wicket taking threat.

Bready's Conor Olphert and North Down's Craig Young have both recovered from injury and take their place.

There had been a school of thought that Clontarf opening bowler David Delany might be a late choice, but he obviously didn't do enough to sway Malan and the selection panel.

There was better news for Delany's Clontarf team-mate Fionn Hand, who got the nod over Shane Getkate, who had been the stand-out performer in the five trial matches over the past two weeks.

Malan confirmed that the matches were more for practice purposes rather than offering a genuine chance of selection.

That will have been good news for Stephen Doheny, who edged out Neil Rock in the battle to be Lorcan Tucker's deputy. The Merrion opener endured a horror run in the past two weeks, but had enough in the bank to get on the plane.

The squad departs on the 29th of September and will travel to Sydney where they will play a three-match warm-up series hosted by Randwick Petersham prior to the World Cup.

They will then travel to Melbourne to play two official warm-up matches, before moving to Hobart for the first round of the tournament proper.

Ireland are in the same group as West Indies, Scotland and Zimbabwe, with the top two progressing to the next phase.
