After Thailand’s loss to hosts Bangladesh yesterday, it was defeats today for the other two associates in the Women’s Asia Cup.

Malaysia were put into bat against Pakistan and were restricted to just 57-9 from their 20 overs with Omaima Sohail taking 3-19. Elsa Hunter’s unbeaten 29 was Malaysia’s only score in double figures. Pakistan were largely untroubled in their reply, chasing down their target in nine overs to win by 9 wickets, Sidra Ameen scoring 31.

In the second game of the day, Sri Lanka chose to bat first against the UAE and scored 109-9, Harshitha Samarawickrama top scoring with 37. Mahika Gaur and Vaishnave Mahesh both took three wickets for the UAE.

Rain interrupted the UAE run chase after four overs with the score on 20-1. When play resumed the target had been adjusted to 66 from 11 overs. The Sri Lanka bowlers didn’t allow UAE to get any sort of partnership and restricted them to 54-7, an 11 run DLS victory.

Malaysia will be the only associate side in action tomorrow when they take on India. UAE are next in action on Tuesday against the same opponents.
