A planned tour by Ireland Wolves this month to the West Indies has been scrapped.

The Irish had lined up a multi-format series which was due to happen in Antigua against a predominantly Under 23 side from the Caribbean.

As always it would appear that financial issues was the main reason for the cancellation, with the budget for 2022 already considerably in the red.

Ireland Wolves bizarrely haven't played a match since they took on Namibia in late March and early April.

They didn't have a single fixture in their home summer, and with nothing likely now before the end of the year, it would seem the lessons of previous failures haven't been learned.

One can only hope that 2023 and a new budget brings a fixture list that 'the next cabs off the ranks' deserve, rather than having to learn on the job.
