A geat recovery after a poor start by Pakistan - Mohammad Rizwan had chopped on in Wayne Parnell's first over - Mohammad Haris came to the crease and was rattled on the helmet. Seemingly no harm done as he proceeded to hit Rabada 6,6,4 in the second! Short and sweet - he scooped Nortje over the keeper for another 6 but moved across to the next and was trapped lbw -an interesting 11 ball innings.

A frustrated Babar Azam was fooled by Ngidi's slower ball and Rabada took a terrific 'over the shoulder' catch running back from mid on. Shan Masood chipped a Nortje 'knuckle ball' to mid off and Pakistan were in all sorts of trouble.

A partnership of 52 between Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Nawaz led a recovery before Nawaz was lbw to Shamsi sweeping. A bizarre dismissal!! Given lbw, he started to run, was sent back and run out by direct hit from Rabada, he didn't review the lbw although he hit it, so lbw stands. Shadab Khan 52 off 22 (3x4, 4x60) and Ifthikar Ahmed 51 off 35 (3x4, 2x6) added 81 as the South African bowling and fielding cracked under the pressure.

De Kock went without scoring, caught at short midwicket off Afridi, and a second for him, Rossouw caught on the third man boundary. A tame end to the 49 run partnership as Bavuma edged Shadab's first ball to the keeper and double trouble as Markram played back to his third and was bowled in what transpired to be the defining moments of the game.

Shadab had removed both the 'set' batsmen in the space of three balls totally derailing the Sourth African chase and leaving them 16 runs behind on DLS when rain caused the game to be interrupted.

When play resumed six overs had been lost and South Africa needed 73 off the remaining 5 overs. They made a good start taking 14 runs off Shadab but Shaheen Afridi got his third wicket in the next.

With 47 needed off 18 Mohammad Wasim bowling like Waqar Younis of old - reverse swing yorkers - 'sandshoe crushers as Ritchie Benaud called them, had Parnell lbw and the tail perished in the deep as the required rate climbed. An unlikely 41 was required off the last over and Pakistan celebrations had already started.
