Those displays saw him named in the Victoria team of the year and his signing will be a great boost for the Milverton side.

Head Coach Jeremy Bray has also used his connections with the Denmark National squad to recruit all-rounder Nicolaj Laegsgaard to their ranks.

The 26 year-old is an experienced international who is a left-arm spinner and midle-order batsman. He has shown his quality last month with half centuries against Canada and Singapore in successive games in Malaysia.

"I’m heading towards new challenges, and I’m really looking forwards to get that with the Hills," Laegsgaard told CricketEurope.

"It’s going to be a great experience for me, both as a person but also as a cricketer.

"I can’t wait to meet all the players and people around the club, and of course my old coach, Jeremy Bray. Obviously it’s going to be a blast making a difference both off and on the field."

Making a shorter journey is batsman Nathan Rooney who is on the move from Premier League champions Balbriggan.

"I can’t wait to get going with The Hills," said Rooney.

"I felt like I needed a fresh start and a new challenge to reignite the fire in me. I feel like now is the right time and club to do that with.

"I’m excited to get into the nets, meet the lads and put my head down and get my game to that different level I know it can be to help club win games and hopefully silverware," added Rooney.

Interesting times at The Vineyard!
