Sunday saw Luke Clinton seal a dramatic win for The Hills and with it reach a superb landmark in Leinster Senior cricket.

It looked as if it was going to be a blank day for the affable Clinton with his side making just 113 in their clash at home to Phoenix.

The game looked a lost cause as the visitors reached 106 for 3 in the 25th over, needing just eight more.

However in a dramatic twist, Cian Nulty tore through the batting on his way to taking 7 for 27, leaving Phoenix on 112 for 9.

The focus then switched to Luke Clinton, who was on 499 senior wickets for The Hills.

The scriptwriters played ball as Rahul Arote's stumps were sent cartwheeling to spark pandemonium at Milverton.

Clinton first played senior cricket back in 1997 and his 500 wickets have come at a cost of 20.84, with seven five wicket hauls.

His best bowling return of 7 for 13 came in 2019 against near rivals North County.

Clinton played in both of The Hills' Irish Senior Cup wins against Merrion in 2012 and Clontarf in 2014.

A remarkable achievement to reach 500 wickets, with I'm sure many more to come.
