Fintan Butler, Club President of Civil Service has sadly died.

He first played cricket at Civil Service in 1949 as a nine-year-old and was involved with the club all his life as an indefatgible, dedicated volunteer player and then administrator.

He was also heavily involved in the Leinster Junior Branch administration, and was also a well respected hockey umpire and administrator.

He was a very popular member of Civil Service, who always had a warm welcome for opposition players and supporters.

His son Owen is a former Irish international.

Deepest sympathies to his wife Rose, sons Owen and Ger, and the family circle.

May his gentle soul rest in peace.
