Phoenix will be playing in the top flight of Leinster cricket after the scheduled play-off match on Saturday versus Railway Union was abandoned without a ball bowled.

Leinster regulations strangely don't allow for the opportunity to have at least one replay for what is a hugely important game.

It's frustrating for Railway who had given themselves a chance to avoid the drop by beating All Ireland champions Leinster last week, allowing YMCA to pip the Rathmines side to the title.

Railway therefore join The Hills in being relegated to the Championship, while Pembroke and Phoenix are promoted to the Premiership.
