Match Programme
An abortive match due to rain. This was the first match against Scotland at Poloc CC in Glasgow who were celebrating a centenary. It rained until late afternoon on the first day and the covers leaked. There was no play on the first day. Next day play began on time and continued for three hours. Then it rained for the next day and a half and there was no further play. Ireland brought in Anderson for GP O'Brien. Scotland had a new cap W Donald and CJ Warner had not played previously against Ireland.

The wicket had wet and dry patches. It took a lot of spin was but at an even height and it was very slow. Scotland just batted badly for 60 overs and made 74-7. Elder bowled 13 overs in a row and took 1-16. He got this wicket in his third over when A Brown flicked the ball to short mid-wicket. 2-1-2. Corlett bowled seven overs and 20 overs between the fast bowlers seemed far too many. Monteith replaced Corlett and bowled four overs at that end. In his first over a fast ball had Racionzer caught at the wicket. 15-2-4. At 10 Steele hit Short in the chest at gully off Corlett. Halliday came on for Monteith for the 24th over and Monteith took over from Elder for the 27th. They both bowled to the end. In his second over Halliday had Stewart caught at square short-leg. 31-3-3. At 38 two wickets fell in a spell of 11 successive maidens. Steele's 96 minutes stay for 23 ended with a gully catch by Corlett off Monteith. Donald, on debut, faced 17 balls for 0. He snicked a floater off Monteith to first slip. After 120 minutes and 39 overs lunch was taken with the score on 38-5, Robertson 0 Warner 1. At 45 Warner, a left-hander, put a ball through Elder at extra cover off Halliday. Elder was not well and retired with A Hughes, 12th man from the Malahide club, coming out. At 56 Robertson played forward to Monteith and was caught at old-fashioned point by Corlett diving to his right, one-handed. 56-6-6. Warner was in 66 minutes and faced 77 balls for his 12. Then Halliday pitched one on the leg stump. It turned a lot and Warner snicked it to Colhoun. 20 minutes later the rain came with a score of 74-7, Goddard 12, Kerr 4. Monteith's figures were 21-16-17-4! Ireland had put Scotland in.
