This was the last international game against I Zingari and also the last international match on the Vice Regal ground. It was a XII a side match. I Zingari had not been in Ireland since 1901 but the present team was very weak and no match for the Irish team even though both Harrington and Ross were unable to play. The Vice Regal ground had not been played on for quite a while but considering how long it had lain unused it was not unsatisfactory. The wicket was slow and helpful to bowlers. The match was a great triumph for Ireland's giant fast bowler G.W.F. Kelly. He took 12 wickets for 86 runs and scored 76 runs with the bat for once out. Of the original team selected, Stuart, Harrington and Ross all cried off and were replaced by GA Morrow, SC Smith and R Fox Goodman. The latter was making his only appearance for Ireland, as also was H Etlinger.

Ireland won the toss and RH Lambert and Etlinger began to the bowling of Hesketh-Pritchard and Ward. At 24 Etlinger was bowled by Pritchard for 13, and at 40 Greig relieved Ward and had RH Lambert caught at slip for a fine 25. Andrews and Browning put up 50 in 35 minutes. The pace increased, chiefly due to Andrews, and the second 50 took only 25 minutes. This could not last and at 110, after a stand of 70, Browning was caught off Gregson-Ellis for 18. Two runs later Andrews was caught off Greig for a brilliant 41. Pritchard came on again and bowled the number six, Donovan. 115-5-1. LA Meldon joined SD Lambert and the former was missed three times before lunch when the score was 133-5. Afterwards Meldon was missed twice more before being finally caught off Gordon for a lucky 17. The partnership had added 45. Christian was out at once to Gordon for a "duck" and Smith only made one. 172-8-1. At 185 Morrow was thrown out for eight and one run later Gordon had Lambert caught for a stylish 42. Kelly came in as last man and at once hit two sixes to bring 200 up. Kelly continued to hit merrily about him until the last wicket had added 48. Then Fox-Goodman was caught off Wynyard, the seventh bowler tried. He had made eight while Kelly was left not out for 40. Gordon with 3-32 in six overs was the best of the I Zingari bowlers.

I Zingari also completed an innings on the first day and were all out for 144 giving Ireland a 90 run lead. Greig and FH Browning (an exact namesake of the Browning playing for Ireland) began to RH Lambert and Kelly. At 12, Browning was caught at the wicket by his namesake off Kelly. Viscount Anson failed to score, being caught at slip by Etlinger off Kelly. Lambert took the next three wickets having Greig brilliantly held at point by Meldon at 20, Balfour-Melville was caught in the longfield by Andrews at 32 and, eight runs later, Wynyard was lbw. Gregson-Ellis and Ward stopped the rot and 50 went up in 55 minutes. This pair brought the score steadily along to 119, a partnership of 79. Then six wickets fell for 25 runs and the innings was over. Christian, who had come on late, took four of these wickets for 15 runs and Kelly took the other two. Ellis got a lively 39 while Ward with 42 was the top scorer of the innings.

The second day again brought perfect weather and the Lord Lieutenant was present. Ireland pushed home the advantage gained and set I Zingari to get 321 to win in 165 minutes. I Zingari put up a feeble show and were all out in 75 minutes for 67. The wicket again played tricks but this was not sufficient excuse. In fact, Ireland were much the better side. I Zingari began well when Pritchard had Etlinger caught off his fourth ball before a run was scored. Andrews was run out at 11 and RH Lambert was lbw to Pritchard at 20. Donovan came in at number five to join Browning and this improved the situation. Both batted well although Browning was missed before scoring. They made 69 together before Ward bowled Browning for a pretty 33. With the total unchanged Donovan was caught off the fast bowler Pritchard for 25. Meldon and Christian were now together and a stand of 40 ensued. This was chiefly accounted for by two overs from Browning which cost 21 runs, Christian hitting him for six and then Meldon drove him for two successive sixes. Ward came back and had Christian well held by Balfour-Melville while attempting to drive. 129-6-20. Wynyard then came on with his lobs but Meldon was severe on him. At lunch with Meldon and SD Lambert in the score was 146-6. Lambert was bowled by Prichard for three at 147. At 160 Meldon was taken at slip off Greig for 43, and this time he had given no chance. Kelly, promoted to number 10, added 44 taking the score from 160 to 204. Smith and Morrow added a further 24 for the 10th wicket before Ward was again tried and got the two of them quickly. Ward bowled only eight overs in three spells and took 4-17. It would appear as though he was badly used.

The I Zingari innings was a procession. RH Lambert (13-2-23-3) and Kelly (13.3-2-30-8) bowled unchanged and only Wynyard, 14, and Hesketh-Pritchard, 13, made double figures. In Kelly's second over Browning and Ward were out off successive balls and at 15 Lambert bowled Greig. Ellis and Wynyard took the score to 32 when Wynyard was well held by Kelly at mid-off. Off the first ball of Kelly's next over Ellis was caught by Donovan at mid-off and at 33 Kelly had Anson caught at mid-on. Anson had "bagged a pair". Pritchard hit a six off Kelly and then Lambert bowled Viscount Hawkesbury for 0 at 39. Pritchard and Sir Henry Bathurst added 16 for the eighth wicket to bring the score to 55. Pritchard was then stumped off Kelly and two runs later Balfour-Melville was caught in the slips without scoring. Fox was caught at short leg at 61 and six runs later the innings ended when Bathurst was caught and bowled. This was a great performance of Kelly's but the opposition was very weak.
