Ireland finished third thanks to an 8-wicket victory over Papua New Guinea at Forthill.

When Ireland won the toss and opted to field first, Eimear Richardson starred with the ball to claim figures of 3 for 9 with her right-arm offbreak as Ireland restricted Papua New Guinea to 85 for 8 at the end of their 20 overs.

A quick-fire 35 off 31 from 23-year-old Konio Oala was Papua New Guinea's highest individual innings of the tournament. She hit two fours and three sixes to lift her side from 27 for 3 after ten overs. Kim Garth (2 for 15) backed up Richardson's spell to ensure that no other batter reached double figures.

On a pitch that has seen low scores across the tournament, Ireland made light work of their run chase with 29 from Kim Garth taking Ireland to 68 for 2 after 10 overs.

The Papua New Guinea bowling failed to threaten as they gave away 18 extras to ensure Ireland were never troubled.
