Ireland's Women cricketers were dealt another confidence ebbing blow after losing to Scotland in a low scoring contest.

Chasing what looked on the surface a modest Scotland total of 105, the Irish got bogged down and could only manage 94 for 7 in their 20 overs.

Lorna Jack (32) top scored for Scotland, while Eimear Richardson's purple patch continued as she took 3 for 14, while Clontarf's Lara Maritz also did well in claiming 2 for 14.

Kim Garth (30) looked to be guiding the Irish to victory, but her dismissal saw the required rate climb steadily as they got bogged down.

Laura Delany (24) and Una Raymond-Hoey (17) couldn't get the innings back on track and they fell to a 11-run loss to a Scottish side which they have enjoyed the upper hand over a decade or more.

Rachel Scholes conceded just 11 runs in her spell, while a special word of praise for 14 year-old Katherine Fraser who took 1 for 12 in her four overs.

Sunday is a rest day and there will be much for Coach Ed Joyce to ponder on ahead of the three remaining games before the T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Scotland later this month.
